ERHS Calendar - Week of 5/20/19

Dear ERHS Community,

This past weekend the Class of 2019 had their Senior Trip to Honor’s Haven in Ellenville, NY.. Members of the class participated in a variety of activities and enjoyed the wonderful weather in this lovely location in the Catskills. We hope that all had an enjoyable time and thank all the faculty/staff members who attended the trip.

Last week 11th and 10th grade students received their tentative programs for the 2019-20 school year.  We hope everyone had a chance to review their anticipated program for the coming year. If there are any questions about non-AP electives or core courses, please contact Mr. D’Amico. Those that are requesting an appeal of a decision for an AP class are to place their appeal letter, as per directions on the tentative program, in the AP Appeals box in the main office by the end of the school day on Monday, 5/20. As there are several factors that are a part in the decision-making process, we ask that everyone understand that realities, such as class capacity and limits on course sections are also a part of the process.  Every student’s requests were thoughtfully reviewed and determined. Ninth graders will receive their tentative programs shortly.

As we continue to plan for the coming year, I know there have been some concerns regarding the ElRo Sibs program and advisory in general. We will definitely prioritize Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in the future and are reviewing a variety of options moving forward.  Nothing has been finalized and we are simply exploring options. We appreciate all the members of the community who are passionate about our program and will be sharing some of the decisions in the coming weeks.

We will plan to have a whole school summer reading for the coming year as well, where all students, in all grades, will read the same book and have a shared experience. More to come in the coming days.

This week’s upcoming events include:

Monday 5/20 - Special Monday Schedule and Faculty Professional Learning at 2:25pm

Tuesday 5/21 - SLT Meeting at 5:00pm in the Library

Thursday 5/23 - AP U.S. History Exam at 7:45am

                          Spring Band Concert at 6:00pm

Any students that are taking make-up AP exams should confirm the date and time with Ms. Damesek on Monday.

Sincerely,

Mr. Saliani

Principal

ATHLETICS

This is the area where you will come to check out the current results and recaps from the latest games. This is also the area where you will look to see when sports interest meetings are planned for the upcoming season.  Remember, if you will be trying out for a team, you will need a current medical form filled out by a doctor, and a parent consent form. You can pick up both forms in the PE Office on the 2nd floor.
