Roosevelt Racers (F1 in Schools)
Brief History

The Roosevelt Racers is a new team formed by a group of six dedicated students of Eleanor Roosevelt High School, NYC, in March 2017. It is also a collaborative effort among students, teachers, industrial experts, and corporate sponsors. The team worked around the clock to overcome numerous obstacles to compete in the New York Super Regionals on April 1, 2017. They received the overall second place award, as well as the top rookie team award. The team was advancing to Nationals, and competed on June 8-10, 2017 in Austin, TX. The team was ranked number 7 on car speed, and number 9 on overall performance in 2017 Nationals.

We just re-launched the Roosevelt Racers team from scratch again this year (2019) and are preparing to compete in the 2020 Nationals. Currently, the team has grown into both a formal class - Automotive Engineering and a club. We are still actively recruiting new members.

Our Vision & Goals
  • Top Race Car Technology - Our vision is to build a strong F1 in Schools team that can design and manufacture the fastest F1 model cars to race in the regional, national, and international competitions. Intensive research will be focused on car design, CFD simulation, wind/smoke tunnel testing, materials, and manufacturing technology. The goal is to reduce the race time in each product release, push toward the 1.00 second barrier, and advance to the World Finals.
  • STEM Education & Integrated Learning - We want to broaden the impact of F1 in Schools activities in our school community to promote STEM education, graphic & product design, entrepreneurship, and teamwork. The team will be actively recruiting new members such that more students will benefit from this activity. We will be hosting intra-school competition to promote the F1 in School activities. Components of the STEM challenge will be integrated into our curriculum, and interdisciplinary curriculum integration will be enhanced.
  • Community Support - Since we are the first school in NYC to participate in a F1 in Schools competition, we will encourage regional schools to join us in this challenge. We will host STEM Workshop for the middle schoolers to promote STEM education. We will build a competent team that can help and support new teams in our city, and support F1 in Schools outreach events.
  • Growing Sponsorship - We are aiming for building a self-sustaining F1 in Schools team that will become an effective marketing platform for many businesses. As we continue to grow and push our limits through innovation, we hope that our sponsors will share the same growth and success.
